The Colorado Trail Near Buena Vista, Colorado
 |
June 28, 2006 - Today I did a short two mile stretch
of the Colorado Trail. I began where the trail reached Chaffee County Road 344
(which eventually leads to Cottonwood Lake) and I hiked
two miles uphill before turning back. This is a really nice place to go if love Colorado aspens! |
 |
And the Colorado wildflowers are out with a bang right now! :) |
 |
The trail heads uphill and goes behind the Rainbow
Lake Resort amidst many tall aspen trees. It would have been nice to have reached a clearing
somewhere to photograph the lake or Mt. Yale, but it was still nice. |
 |
There were some horseback riders on the trail as well. |
 |
When you reach Cottonwood Creek, you are almost
to Cottonwood Pass Road and the Avalance Trailhead parking lot. |
 |
To return to my car, I actually walked the couple of miles back
on Cottonwood Pass Road and then turned right onto C.R. 344. Here is one shot of the Rainbow Lake Resort,
in which that Colorado Trail went along above the long amidst those aspens. |
