Snow Photos - Buena Vista, Colorado

(A Variety Of Photos From A Snowy October Day in Colorado's Mountains - October 28, 2009)

Snow
Late Afternoon

It is safe to say it snows quite a lot in the central Rocky Mountain region of Colorado. As a year-round resident, I have grown accustomed to seeing snow on any given day from September through May. (And sometimes June and July if we're lucky!) On October 28, I was traveling home from Leadville on Highway 24 and had my camera with me and all but the bottom photo were taken on this snowy day. Adjacent Photo: The view south of Granite, CO. I was in the passenger seat and the vehicle's antenna got in the way ...

Snow ... but then I used the sun roof to take more photos!

This shot was taken near the Chalk Creek Reservoir turnoff that leads to Vicksburg and Winfield and the trailheads to 14ers Mt. Belford and Huron Peak.

Three more snowy photos for your viewing enjoyment! :)

It is hard to keep track of all the snow photo galleries I've created over the years, but here are a few notable ones:

  • Cottonwood Pass 2009 Opening
  • Driving in Snow All Day (April 2009)
  • Snow Scenery (2008)
  • Snow at Independence Pass (2008)
  • Snowfall at Cottonwood Pass (2005)

Two photos as I stood stationary at the one and only traffic light in our town. :)

    Evening Snow

I ventured out after dark to capture more photos of the snow in Buena Vista. This first picture was taken while pulled over on Chaffee County Road 306.

McPhelemy Park near the center of town. Snow
The lack of cars, the tire marks and the red and green lights give this a peaceful and Christmasy kind of look, doesn't it? :) Buena Vista, CO
A pretty view of East Main Street. Buena Vista, Colorado
I wanted to include myself somehow in this pictorial. :)
Two photos of the snow was coming down fairly hard. Buena Vista, Colorado

One extra snow photo of a friend's backyard. This was taken one week earlier on October 21.
