April 12, 2009 - I placed the titled
"Snowy Colorado Easter" above. Many areas of Colorado received significant snowfall
on Easter Sunday. Friends in Colorado Springs and Woodland Park
displayed photos of their cute children holding easter baskets in the snow.
Just hilarious! Lance Armstrong, who is currently bicycle training in
Aspen and surrounding mountain ski towns,
tweeted a photo of the snowy roads on
his twitter page. As for Buena Vista,
the clouds remained silver and gray all day, but I only noticed a few
flurries coming down during my time in the mountains this afternoon.
Adjacent photos - A beautiful bighorn sheep posed for me on the edge of Chaffee County Road 306 near the Cottonwood Hot Springs. |
 |
I traveled up the canyon.
I put on eyes "as if I lived in Kansas" as I photographed the views.
The snowy mountain ridge is part of the "right hump" (among the three humps) of
Mt. Princeton. |

Cottonwood Lake
I traveled inside South Cottonwood Canyon to see what Cottonwood Lake looked like.
Plenty of ice and snow remains on the lake, but it is definitely thawing out.

Nice view of the road with a rocky face in the background. |

Officially, it did not snow much in Buena Vista, I wandered
in the forest to photograph the snow. I know my many friends in places like Florida,
Texas and
San Diego will appreciate this! :) |

Along Chaffee County Road 344 is a real estate sign by the First Colorado Land Office. I do not know anything about
this property besides the simple dirt road. Positioned in the canyon, it does not appear to get much sunlight,
which may be good or bad depending on your taste! |
 |
Currenlty no trees have any buds whatsoever in central Colorado, and the aspens are no exception. |
 |
A pretty mountain view from the road. |
 |
Near the entrance of the Spring Canyon Conference Center
(off of Chaffee County Road 344), I captured the grand view of Mt. Yale. So pretty! |
 |
Then I traveled west (up the canyon) on Chaffee County Road 306 toward
Cottonwood Pass. Gotta love this
very noticeable avalanche slide on the left. |
 |
On the way down, I love this mountain view from the road. |

Yours truly at the
Denny Creek Trailhead parking lot.
Cottonwood Pass is still closed due to the snow. (It usually opens a few days before Memorial Day weekend.)
Look at how little snow is up there. It's been a disappointing winter ...
We need more snow!
